A major engineering contractor delivering grid connection and high-voltage infrastructure across the UK is looking for a Senior Project Planner to join its planning and delivery team in Glasgow. This is a permanent opportunity to work on some of the UK's most significant energy transition and power infrastructure projects.
You'll bring advanced programme management expertise in substation, HV/MV, and utility-scale projects, playing a critical role in the successful execution of major schemes from tender through handover.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage fully integrated Level 1–4 programmes for HV electrical infrastructure projects using Primavera P6
Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Commercial teams to define sequencing and resource planning
Oversee the creation and tracking of detailed construction schedules, reporting progress against key milestones
Identify and communicate critical path activities, resource constraints, and delivery risks
Lead on earned value analysis, forecasting, and production of weekly/monthly reports for stakeholders
Chair schedule coordination meetings and support client-side schedule discussions and approvals
Develop bid-stage and live project schedules to support tender planning and ongoing delivery
Mentor junior planners and contribute to internal planning process improvements
Ideal Candidate Profile:
5+ years of experience as a Project Planner on HV substations, utilities, or energy infrastructure projects
Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory); Power BI knowledge is a plus
Strong understanding of HV/MV systems and transmission infrastructure (110kV–400kV preferred)
Previous experience with NEC, FIDIC, or equivalent contract frameworks
Confident managing integrated schedules across procurement, design, and construction
Proven ability to engage with commercial, engineering, and site delivery teams
Highly analytical with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred
Must be based in or able to relocate to Glasgow
